Delivery & Returns

1. When can I expect my items?

Most items are normally delivered the next day within Northern Ireland after the order has been dispatched, but there are exceptions which are clearly marked on the item description e.g. 1-2 days dispatch

PLEASE NOTE: although our couriers work on a next day delivery basis we cannot be held responsible for late deliveries due to driver error, if you are not sure when your item will be delivered please contact us for an accurate delivery day. 

If you have quoted for a job and are desperately in need of  tools we suggest you call us for us to monitor the situation.

Please note, delivery times to some areas of Scotland, the Scottish Highlands, Islands, UK Mainland and areas outside of Northern Ireland can vary and items can take up to 3-4 working days to reach their destination after dispatch. There is an extra charge for these delivery areas.

Next Day Delivery - If an order is placed before 3pm Mon-Fri, it will be sent out that same day and will be hopefully delivered the following working day. Couriers do not deliver on a Sunday but can deliver on a Saturday for an extra charge.

Ordinarily, orders on Next Day Delivery that are placed after 3pm Friday will be dispatched on Monday.

Orders on 1-2 days dispatch time - The chart below shows when to expect delivery of items when ordered during The Tool Shed working hours. It is based on the assumption that your order has been dispatched within 2 working days after the order was placed, however we do try our very best to dispatch items within 1 working day after the order has been placed.

If you place an order that includes several different products, some of which are on Next Day, 1-2 days , 3-4 days, or 7-10 days dispatch, we will ship all items based on the longest dispatch date.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to deliver in the times stated above, we will either notify you though e-mail or telephone.

All courier deliveries are 'kerb side' only which means they will not be able to take items into your delivery address. The receiver must arrange for larger items to be taken from the driver - heavy items will need two people.

2. How much is UK delivery?

The prices calculated are set by the courier companies and are based on the weight and dimensions of the parcel. 

Please note, customers in the Scottish Highlands and Islands may incur higher postage costs. If you are ordering from England, the postage cost will also reflect the charges for shipping overseas.

3. Delivery Methods

10:00 & 12:00

DPD 10:00 & DPD 12:00 Ensure your parcels arrive by 10am or noon the next working day.


DPD NEXT DAY For parcel delivery in the UK before close of business the following working day


DPD TWO DAY For those non-urgent parcels which can accept an extra day's transit


Saturday Extend the working week with by 10, by 12 or next day delivery on Saturdays.

The above are guidelines only and TTS reserves the right to amend the original courier method if we feel an item exceeds the maximum dimensions or it is not possible to send all items in one parcel.

4. How do I know when my order has been dispatched?

When your goods have been dispatched you will receive a confirmation via email to the email address provided - it is important to provide us with an email address as this can be the quickest and most efficient way of us contacting you.

5. Can I track my order?

Yes you can.

Once you have received an email confirming your order has been dispatched, you can then track that order from 6pm that same day on the couriers website. Simply follow the link within the message to check on the status of your delivery and have your tracking number to hand.

6. My order is due to be delivered today, what time will it arrive?

Unfortunately we are unable to give specific delivery times but as a general, DPD aim to deliver between 8am - 5.30pm.

Should you require special delivery services please ring our helpline before placing your order.

7. Do I have to sign for my delivery?

Small orders sent via Royal Mail will not require a signature.

All other orders will require a signature for proof of delivery unless we have been instructed otherwise - for example 'please leave in porch'

Please note: No responsibility will be taken by or the contracted courier companies for items left on customer's premises when asked or documented within the customer's order.

8. Damaged Items

In the unlikely event that your goods arrive damaged, please call our helpline immediately on 028 8772 6427.

9. Can you deliver to an address other than my billing address?

Yes we can. When placing your order online, simply change the shipping address in your account.

Unfortunately we cannot ship to any other address other than your billing address when taking orders over the telephone due to fraudulent purchases.

10. What are the Delivery Charges outside Northern Ireland?

Customers ordering from outside Northern Ireland can calculate the shipping costs by using the "Shipping Calculator" on the right hand side of the website - simply add the items to  your basket, select a country and enter your postcode.


Returns Policy

TheToolShed aims to do its best to supply you with the highest quality goods at the best value for money to suit your exact specifications. We understand that from time to time you may have a need to return or exchange the goods you have purchased. We recommend that you keep all confirmation emails received from us and a copy of the invoice as proof of purchase.


Unwanted goods

If the goods you received do not meet your requirements or you have changed your mind you can return them to us for a full refund or exchange. Unwanted goods must be returned at the buyers own cost with reasonable care taken to ensure they return undamaged. Before returning any goods we require written confirmation (this can be an email) within 14 days of receipt, we will then notify you when we have cleared the cancellation. A phone call is not considered acceptable for cancellations and we will not accept any cancellations by phone call. Any free items or gifts included in the purchase must be returned with the goods in order to receive a refund. We must receive the goods undamaged and in a resalable condition before a refund is processed, please note that refunds will be processed as soon as possible within 30 days of the cancellation.


Damaged goods

We recommend that you inspect all goods on receipt and (if possible) refuse delivery if there is any noticeable damage. We require written confirmation of damaged, lost or missing goods (this can be an email) as soon as possible but no longer than 7 days of receipt. If the facility is available to you we recommend you send us a picture of the damage. 

Due to the nature of some products they may arrive with scuffs and scratches from their manufacturer. If these superficial marks do not affect the functionality of the product we will be unable to accept them as damaged goods, however, the goods may be returned at the customers own cost under the distance selling regulations and our terms and conditions.


Wrong items received

In the unlikely event that you have received the wrong items we require that you contact us straight away in order for us to resolve the issue.


Distance Selling Regulations

Under the Distance Selling Regulations you have a 14 day 'cooling off' period in which you have the right to cancel your order for any item purchased on this website for a full refund. This does not apply to goods that have been made to your specification.

To cancel, you can email or write to us (see Contact us for details) within 14 calendar days from receipt of the goods. You must take reasonable care of the item ensuring that they are returned in the original packaging and in a resalable condition.

Prices shown on our website are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.

Working days - all days other than Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Written confirmation - an email or letter explaining you want to return the items you received, with the reason and all your contact details.
